Children

I can not count the number of times that my wife Karen and I have said "I wish they would stay little", we also wish they would be quiet sometimes, and we want to know who "not me" is because he causes all the messes at our house, I guess that won't happen but as a father of nine (yes 9) wonderful children I have experienced all the highs and lows of parenthood. Most of all I have realized that unless you are used to working with kids of all ages, the images are going to look posed, while "cheese" is great on a burger it really makes a photo look staged. The best images are teh ones that the children didn't know I was taking, they captured the real life that we all as parent want to remember.

Whether it's a studio session or my favorite, spending a few hours in the childs favorite place (home, zoo, local park, Mcdonalds) Providing portraits that have the parents saying "that's him/her" is the best reward I can receive.
